Morocco earthquake: citizens step in to help as government slow to accept international aid
by worldNews24
Moroccan citizens have been stepping in to help survivors of the country’s deadliest earthquake in more than 60 years, amid government reluctance to accept international aid. The kingdom has only welcomed offers from four countries: Spain, the UK, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, although several other nations, including China and the US, have also extended help. The 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the tourist city of Marrakech on September 8, 2023, killing more than 2,862 people and injuring at least 2,500 as of September 11.
