Suspected Japanese theft leader ‘Luffy’ arrested by Tokyo police

A 39-year-old man believed to be a senior member of a robbery ring in Japan was arrested by Tokyo police on June 29, 2023. Nicknamed “Luffy”, Imamura Kiyoto was suspected to be linked to a luxury watch store robbery in Kyoto on May 2, 2022. Kiyoto allegedly gave orders via his mobile phone while in a detention centre in the Philippines. He was one of four alleged senior members behind the group to have been arrested.
