Vladimir Putin defies the world and launches military offensive on Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a major military operation against Ukraine in a speech in which he downplayed international sanctions and condemnations and made a grim allusion to his country's nuclear arsenal by threatening `"consequences you have never seen" to any foreign country attempting to interfere. 24 February 2022
