Reduction of the penis and erectile dysfunction as consequences after COVID19

Impotence or erectile dysfunction is classified into two groups: organic causes (damage to vessels, nerves or tissues, e.g. diabetes, hypertension or peyronie's disease) and psychogenic or affective causes. The stress produced in the pandemic would be an important factor in the relationship between erectile dysfunction and CORONAVIRUS. Likewise, the same virus could affect penile tissues, causing erectile problems as a consequence of COVID-19. In other words, COVID-19 may cause erectile dysfunction both because of affective problems related to quarantine and confinement and because of alteration by direct damage to penile tissues, with reduced expression of erection-related substances (KRESCH, Eliyahu, et al. COVID-19 Endothelial Dysfunction Can Cause Erectile Dysfunction: Histopathological, Immunohistochemical, and Ultrastructural Study of the Human Penis. The World Journal of Men's Health, 2021, vol. 39). Given the scarce evidence, we cannot yet consider erectile dysfunction as a symptom of covid, but we could establish some relationship between COVID-19 and erectile dysfunction. Could we say "sequel" ? There are many treatments for male sexual impotence, such as penile shock waves, drugs (the famous "blue pill" or sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil), intracavernous drugs or penile prosthesis (for severe cases). Remember that these should always be prescribed by a urologist, or a specialist in andrology or sexual medicine, who can give you the best solution for erectile dysfunction and thus improve potency and your sexual health. Erectile dysfunction is a very common problem, which has increased in recent times. Do not hesitate to consult and thus help to improve the loss of erection. If you are looking for a urologist in Mendoza or Tunuyán, contact me, so I can help you, always respecting the protocols to avoid infection by coronavirus.
