Cambodia launches China-funded airport in Siem Reap

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese officials inaugurated the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport on November 16, 2023. The US$1.1 billion China-backed project is designed to handle seven million passengers annually, with plans to expand its capacity to 12 million passengers by 2040. Positioned as the primary gateway to Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple complex, the airport started commercial operations in October.
