Tourist boat sinks in Bahamas; at least one person dead

A video has been released on social media showing the terrifying moments when a ferry carrying tourists sank Tuesday morning. Kelly Schissel, a passenger on Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas, was aboard the two-level ferry with more than 100 people heading to Blue Lagoon when she noticed something was wrong. According to the passenger's information, one of the crew members began to cry and grab a life jacket, which created a domino effect in which others grabbed life jackets. The passengers did not jump into the water at first because they were waiting for instructions from the crew, however, the crew never said anything and were "too busy crying and freaking out." At one point, a passenger jumped off the ferry, so others did the same. The current was strong, so people struggled to stay afloat. Read More The passenger also reported that a woman, 75 years old and originally from Colorado, died after coming ashore "as a result of the incident." The cause of her death is unknown at this time. When rescue boats arrived, they took the passengers back to shore, where they stayed in a pavilion for a head count.
