#BlueEgs: They show videos of sick chickens on Mexican farms

On Twitter the hashtag became a trend due to research conducted by a non-profit organization that seeks to protect animals, the result of which shows the living conditions in which chickens are found on Mexican farms, since they live in unsanitary conditions that can lead to various diseases. The undercover investigation managed to collect videos and images of a farm located in Nuevo León -one of the many farms in the Mexican republic- where the hens, who are sick, lay eggs for human consumption. The organization Mercy For Animals revealed that about 190 million hens are trapped in cages every year in our country in industrial farms, which must live with rats, worms, as well as excrement, with the sole purpose of accelerating the production of eggs that reach our table. Through a video you can see the birds on top of each other, without being able to spread their wings, which leads to a conclusion: if they get sick, they are not separated. It is worth mentioning that every day they record the death of 900 chickens due to illness, but their remains are not removed, but rather decompose while egg production continues. Why blue eggs? Mercy For Animal reported that factory farms choose to give antibiotics to sick hens, but these drugs not only stay in the bird's system, they are also transmitted to the eggs and the result is a blue coloration. This not only causes the coloration, but also a resistance to the antibiotics, because it is not only the sick ones that are treated with this drug, but also the ones that resist the fatal conditions in which they live. The organization made its research public in order to invite citizens to ask themselves how and what they are consuming. Mercy For Animal also raises the alarm about a new pandemic that could come from one of these sites.
