Funeral shooting leaves 4 injured in Chicago

At least four people were shot at a funeral in Burnside, Chicago, United States. Chicago police responded to reports of gunfire at 9200 South Cottage Grove at approximately 12:40 pm, according to a tweet from Chicago Police Communications Chief Anthony Guglielmi. The shooting allegedly occurred outside a funeral home when services ended and people were getting into their cars, Guglielmi said. The Chicago Fire Department was also called to the scene because a bullet hit a gas line. The wounded were taken to nearby hospitals where they are reported to be serious but stable. Three victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and the fourth was taken to Defensor Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. There was no information available on the extent of his injuries. At 2:20 p.m., the police chief reported that there were no fatalities in connection with the shooting. In front of the place of the shooting is a kindergarten with 25 children which was closed and the children were put to safety. A center across the street from where the shooting occurred had about 25 children inside and was placed in an enclosed space.
