China on alert after 6.1 magnitude earthquake

This Monday, December 18, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake was registered with epicenter in Linxia, border region of Gansu-Qinghai, in China, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. So far there are no reports of damage from the quake. The epicenter of the tremor was located 100 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital, Lanzhou, and was followed by several aftershocks. On the other hand, the Sky Alert Service detailed that severe intensities were registered and foresee possible damages in the localities that are isolated or vulnerable due to their proximity to the epicenter.
