Thai PM greets Chinese tourists on visa-free scheme

Thailand welcomed the first batch of Chinese tourists enjoying visa-free entry to the kingdom on September 25, 2023. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin personally greeted the visitors, with dancers in traditional costume and puppeteers putting on performances. The visa-free scheme, which also includes Kazakh nationals, is a government effort to boost the country’s key tourism sector which has been hit hard by the pandemic and changing traveller habits.
