Fentanyl will surpass terrorism as the top threat in 2024 in the US, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Department of Homeland Security predicts that next year fentanyl will be one of the top threats endangering the stability of the country as, it will continue to cause more deaths than terrorism. The new 2024 Homeland Threat Assessment (HTA) report indicated that while terrorists remain a threat - which will be "permanent" - to Homeland Security, "drugs kill AND harm many more people in the United States each year."
