Are you a psychopath?

When we think of psychopaths, the serial killers of Hollywood movies come to mind. But very few actually kill. Most lead normal lives. Between 1 and 2 percent of the population is considered psychopathic. Ted Bundy was a charming person until he kidnapped and killed numerous young women in the United States. It can be assumed that people like him are isolated cases. However, almost everyone knows someone with psychopathic traits. How can we distinguish dangerous psychopaths from harmless ones and protect ourselves? Psychopathy is a complex personality disorder that is still under investigation today. Little is known about the causes, although traits are becoming better identified. In the 1980s, American neuroscientist James Fallon performed brain scans on psychopathic criminals and found that their brain structure gave them away. But what about those who never commit crimes? Criminologist Martin Rettenberger studies "successful" psychopaths, who lead normal lives. One of them is the American lawyer M. E. Thomas, who underwent therapy after being diagnosed as a psychopath and has since led a stable social and professional life.
