Carriage Horse Collapses in Hell's Kitchen on Hot Day New York Police Department officers were filmed hosing down a carriage horse that had collapsed to the ground in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, on Wednesday afternoon, August 10. The NYPD told Storyful that officers were called to the incident at the intersection on West 45th Street and 9th Avenue and treated the horse upon arrival. Officials said the animal was hosed down for 45 minutes before being transported to veterinary care. Video shared by animal activist group NYCLASS shows the carriage working horse lying in distress on the road. Local media reported that horse was a fourteen-year-old male horse named Ryder. The National Weather Service forecasted temperatures of up to 87°F across the region on Wednesday, following a week of high humidity in the city. NYPD said the incident was brought to the attention of animal cruelty officials, as per standard procedure.
