17 Americans Receive the Medal of Freedom

President Biden awarded 17 Americans with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This year's list includes Denzel Washington, Simone Biles and Megan Rapinoe among others. Also on the list is former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was a victim of an assassination attempt, gold star father Khizr Khan, who condemned former President Trump at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and nurse Sandra Lindsey, who became the first American to receive the COVID vaccine in 2020.
