The archipelago of Tonga, in the South Pacific, experienced this Saturday the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai volcano, which caused a tsunami with repercussions thousands of kilometers away. It is not yet known if there have been any casualties, but the Red Cross estimates that around 80,000 people may have been affected. The eruption, which occurred 65 kilometers north of the capital Nuku'alofa, has left Tonga without electricity and cut off communications. The subsequent tsunami had an impact even 10,000 kilometers away, off the coast of Peru, where at least two people were killed. Shocking images were also seen off the coast of Fiji, which is about 800 kilometers from the underwater volcano.
