The closest images ever taken of the Sun are published

The Solar Orbiter mission, developed by the European Space Agency and NASA, has managed to capture the closest photos ever taken of the Sun, which have revealed countless small "fires" that are lit everywhere on the star's surface. The space probe was about 77 million kilometres from the Sun, halfway from Earth, when it took these high-resolution images in June. The spacecraft was launched from Cape Canaveral in February of this year.
