Encounter in the body of illusionist Mandrake that was immersed in the river tied of feet

Police in Calcutta recovered Monday the body of Chanchal Lahiri, the illusionist who disappeared the previous day after sinking hand and foot in the river Hugli, while recreating a trick of escapism popularized almost a century ago by Harry Houdini, reported Times of India. Subsequently, the body was identified by the brother of the deceased. The researchers noted that Lahiri made several mistakes during the execution of the show. Thus, the illusionist wore clothes too heavy and uncomfortable, which would have made his movements under water difficult. In addition, its assistants took almost 15 minutes to realize that something was not right after submerging it in the river. According to some reports, 41-year-old Lahiri, known by the stage name of "Mandrake", moved in a boat to the widest part of the river, from where he was submerged with a crane. Some witnesses claimed to have seen Lahiri in the water struggling to free himself from his bonds and asking for help. The rescue operation continued until night and it had to be interrupted by the lack of visibility. At that time, authorities speculated that Lahiri's body may have been washed away by the current.
