Philippines church attack: Bomb blasts in Jolo during Mass
by NewsNews
Two bombs exploded at a cathedral in the town of Jolo in the Mindanao island group of the Philippines. The first blast occurred during Sunday Mass, sending churchgoers rushing outside, where a second bonb detonated. The attack on the island of Jolo comes less than a week after voters there rejected its inclusion in a Muslim autonomous area that was overwhelmingly approved in other parts of the Mindanao island group. At least 20 people were killed and scores of others were wounded. No group has claimed responsibility, but Jolo is a base for militant groups such as Abu Sayyaf.
