#PopeFrancis Talks About US Government Shutdown

Pope Francis spoke out about the U.S. government shutdown on his plane ride to Panama. According to Reuters, he said the “hostility to immigrants was driven by irrational fear.” Francis has made it his mission to defend migrants as part of his papacy. He actually met with eight refugees in Rome before his 13-hour flight to Panama. This is Francis’ first trip to Panama and the first a pope has taken since 1983.
