Fisherman rescues alive a baby that floated in the sea

Gus Hutt was on the beach checking his fishing lines around 7:15 am on October 26 when he saw a baby at sea. In a rescue that called the press "miraculous", because Hutt thought it was a doll floating. The fisherman told a newspaper that the face looked like porcelain and thought it was a doll, until he heard a scream and realized that the baby was still alive. The boy, a year and a half old, had escaped from the tent of his parents, who camped in Matata Beach, on the North Island. Jessica Whyte, her mother, said she left as a "nightmare" when she heard that her son Malachi had been found floating in the ocean. The rescue was "miraculous and a work of fate" because Hutt decided to fish just that day in a different place than usual.
