White House Blocks CNN and The New York Times to Sean Spicer's Conference

The White House has selected news organizations one by one, beyond the usual group of journalists, to attend a meeting this Friday with Sean Spicer. CNN was unable to attend, while other networks were allowed. There has not been any explanation from the White House yet. Other organizations also blocked include the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and Politico. AP and TIME magazine boycotted the informal meeting because of how it was handled. The White House Correspondents Association is also protesting. The organizations that did manage to enter were Breitbart, The Washington Times, and One America News Network. The move surprised senior White House journalists describing it as unprecedented in the modern era, and heightened tensions in the already tense relationship between the Trump government and the press.
