Discrimination condemns the Indians to poverty and social exclusion in Mexico

Being indigenous in Mexico can become synonymous with marginalization. The territory of Oaxaca, with a high rate of Aboriginal people, is an example of where it feels the weight of this economic and moral discrimination. Discrimination against indigenous peoples of Mexico is one of the major problems of the country and also one of its deepest taboos. The lifestyle and culture of these peoples are threatened by the lack of a framework of protection and recognition to help them survive. This fact is more evident in the state of Oaxaca, where 58 % of the population is indigenous and where marginalization is the order of the day. RT spoke with Secretary of Indian Affairs Oaxaca state , Regino Montes Adelphus . " Many of our communities and many of Oaxaca's municipalities are characterized as highly marginalized , where poverty and exclusion rates are extremely high compared to the average national standard ," said the official. In addition , 34% of the population speaks any of the 15 indigenous languages ??in the state of Oaxaca , a cultural richness that becomes another reason for discrimination.
