Kazakh president 'weathered attempted coup d'etat'

After a week of violent protests in Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev says the country weathered an attempted coup d’etat, while Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed victory in defending the former Soviet state.
