The United States is being colonized by 'killer hornets,' a surprisingly large insect.

For the first time, Asian giant hornets have been discovered in the United States, specifically in Washington state, scientists say. Beekeepers have reported scores of dead bees with their heads torn off, an alarming sight in a country with a rapidly declining bee population. At over two inches long, they are the largest hornets in the world with a sting that can kill humans if they are bitten multiple times. Investigations have dubbed them "killer hornets."
