Caledonia Tornado Damage November 22, 2010

Shortly after 3pm this afternoon, a severe thunderstorm formed a large tornado. The first reports of the tornado came in around Riverside and Perryville Road and touched down. From Thomas Drive in Loves Park, the tornado moved east-northeast across I-90/39 just north of the Riverside Blvd. exit/entrance. The tornado intensified and became a large, wedge tornado as it neared the corner of Harlem and Argyle Road. A Rockford School District school bus was rolled at this intersection injuring at least six passengers. We have yet to receive word on the extent of their injuries.The tornado continued moving east-northeast and entered the town of Caledonia. 13News Weekend Meteorologist was chasing the tornado and reported live for much of the afternoon. Large grain bins were collapsed or overturned. One of the largest had a dent in the side over 30 feet tall. Dozens of trees were uprooted and at least one house was completely destroyed.According to the Boone County Sheriff, the tornado crossed IL173 at Caledonia and moved notheast. It crossed IL76 at Quail Trap Road.The tornado may have briefly lifted but came down just east of Sharon, WI. The NWS in Milwaukee reports at least three homes just southeast of the town of Walworth, WI damaged/destroyed.
