At least 23 people were killed and 22 others wounded in an explosion near a chemical factory in Zhangjiakou City, northern China's Hebei Province. The exact reason for the explosion remains unclear, but an investigation is now underway. Local authorities held a press briefing on the blast, with the city's deputy mayor saying that as soon as the control center received the emergency call, they dispatched six fire squadrons, nineteen fire trucks, and about one hundred firefighters to the spot.
