#VIRAL: Spectacular penalty that turned a hockey player into the semifinals of the World Cup

The Spanish Lola Riera was protagonist of a magnificent definition in the series of penalties between Spain and Ireland for the pass to the final of the World Championship of women's hockey that is disputed in the city of London, England. Despite that spectacular goal, the "Red Sticks" failed to advance to the last phase of the Cup and had to settle for the bronze medal, which they won after beating Australia in the match for third place. The tie 1-1 in the regulation time led to the duel was defined by penalties. Carlota Petchamé converted the first one, but it was Riera who went around the world. The 27-year-old conceded the second goal (fifth in the order) with a vaseline over the goalkeeper, who jumped to try to deflect the ball without being able to achieve its goal. Finally, the Irish equaled the series and returned to score in the sudden death definition, an opportunity that could not replicate the Spanish team, so it ended up saying goodbye to the possibility of playing the final. In the duel for the bronze medal, the European team defeated Australia 3-1 and obtained the third place, in addition to making history after achieving the first medal in a World Cup. Maria Lopez advanced to Spain from penalty-corner in the 11th minute and only three later Berta Bonastre scored the 2-0. Kathryn Slattery shortened the gap for the 'aussies' in the 40th, but Alicia Magaz scored the final 3-1 in the 51st to seal the bronze for Spain.
