Trump just 'pardoned' 2 turkeys named Drumstick and Wishbone

The tradition of pardoning a turkey on White House grounds before thanksgiving, officially began under John F. Kennedy who pardoned the bird by saying “let’s keep him going.” How the tradition really started is a bit of a mystery. Some say that it began with Abraham Lincoln’s son Tad persuading his father not to eat their Christmas turkey and to instead keep him as a pet named Jack.
