Tragedy in Mocoa: a deadly winter

The capital of Putumayo suffered one of the worst natural disasters of recent times in the country. An avalanche caused by the overflow of the Mocoa, Mulato and Sancoyaco rivers swept through almost 17 neighborhoods, left more than 150 fatalities, 200 disappeared and hundreds of victims. The national authorities, headed by President Santos, lead the rescue operations.
