Trump's son hires immigrants to grow his vineyards

The company of Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, petitioned 29 immigrant workers for their vineyards after failing to find American workers who want to harvest grapes. Trump Vineyard Estates will use the federal H-2A visa program to hire employees. Workers in the H-2A federal visas program and US agricultural employees must receive a $ 10.72 per hour paycheck in Virginia. President Donald Trump promotes job creation for Americans as a priority, but his son's company tries to hire foreign workers. According to the American newspaper The Daily Progress Trump Vineyard Estates, or better known as the Trump Vineyard in Virginia, the business of Donald Trump's son, he requested 29 foreign workers in December. The H-2A federal visa program allows agricultural employers to apply in advance to employees who will perform temporary work. The Charlottesville area vineyard belongs to Eric Trump, the president's son who has asked companies to hire Americans. The H-2A program allows agricultural employers who anticipate shortages of domestic workers to bring foreign workers into the United States to work in the field or perform other temporary services. To apply for the permit, employers say they have been unable to find US workers who can fill the vacancies. At least three other local vineyards also filed applications to hire foreign labor. It's hard to find people, said Libby Whitley, a lawyer who has worked with various companies, including Trump Winery. Initially, Trump Vineyard Estates had filed an application for six foreign workers in December. Two months later, the company submitted another application for 23 additional workers. Both requests from Trump Vineyard Estates say that some of the main tasks are to plant vines and grow grapes, to install pipes to help grow clusters and prune the vine. H-2A workers and their US counterparts in corresponding positions must be paid under a certain tab: $ 10.72 per hour this year for Virginia vineyard workers. Whitely added that she had assumed that her company would be crammed with people asking for work because of all the coverage that Trump Vineyard has had in the media for using the H-2A program. Guess how many requests we have ... 13, he said. And they all came from places like Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria. Not even a US worker requested work after our first request. Several people sent e-mails saying they were outraged that Trump Vineyard was hiring foreigners, Whitley said. I reviewed each of those answers and said, Are you interested in the job? If so, please contact us immediately, he added.
