Barack Obama blames Republicans for closing the US government in his speech this morning
U.S. President Barack Obama said the partial shutdown of the government, the first in 17 years, has nothing to do with the budget deficit and said the highlight Republican opposition defending against giving social security to millions Americans. In a message he gave at the White House, the president said that the Social Security Act was passed by both houses and was central to last year's election. "It is a law that is here to stay, I will not be kidnapped despite the suspension," he reiterated Obama after ensuring that 15% of Americans who had no health security have received benefits never seen before. He noted that the longer it lasts this suspension will affect thousands of citizens, government offices, monuments and other places are closed. Therefore said he was willing to negotiate with Republicans and Democrats.
