Impressive CCTV Video Sinkhole Swallows Security Guard

One man died when a massive sink hole opened up under his feet at a Shenzhen residential compound on Tuesday evening, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported. The sink hole that swallowed 25-year old security guard Yang Jiabin measured five metres in diameter and was some four floors deep. It is unclear what caused the tragedy. The daily said residents at the residential compound have repeatedly complained about tremors caused by an adjacent construction site only two metres from where the collapse occurred. The construction site belongs to the Shenzhen Press Group, a publisher of some of the city's leading newspapers, the daily said. The Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, one of the group's newspapers, reported the collapse without mentioning its parent company. It did quote "an on-site expert" saying that the buildings near the sink hole were safe.
