Journalist casualties in Syria

Two of the foreign journalists injured in the attack in Homs that killed reporters Marie Colvin and Remi Olchik on Wednesday morning have sent out pleas for help on YouTube. Speaking from a hidden location Le Figaro's Edith Bouvier described her injuries from shrapnel to camera saying: "I need an immediate operation." She added that doctors from the Free Syrian Army had treated her as well as they could under difficult circumstances but "they cannot practice surgical operations, so I need immediately to put in place a cease-fire and an ambulance so that we can drive to Lebanon". During the shelling Bouvier's thigh bone was broken both length-wise and laterally, the reporter said in the above statement. The video also shows French photographer William Daniels who accompanied Bouvier to Syria. Another video shows injured photojournalist Paul Conroy of the Sunday Times, who had accompanied Colvin, saying that "any assistance that can be given would be welcome". Meanwhile, tributes have flooded in from around the world for Marie Colvin and Remi Olchik, a sample of which are also featured in this playlist.
