White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters on the first year of President Trump’s second term as the administration ramps up its push to acquire Greenland from Denmakr.
“In just one year, President Trump has accomplished more than many presidents do in eight. We’ve never had a president fight harder to deliver on the promises he made to the American people than President Trump,” Leavitt wrote Tuesday on social platform X. “I’ll recap it all during the Press Briefing today at 1PM. Tune in!”
Trump is expected to travel to Davos, Switzerland, later Tuesday to attend the World Economic Forum. He announced overnight that he agreed to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European allies who have pushed back against the U.S. taking over Greenland.
On Saturday, the president said a 10 percent tariff would be imposed on exports from Denmark and seven of its allies — including France and the U.K. — starting Feb. 1 and could later be raised to 25 percent. He added that the import taxes would remain until a deal to acquire the Arctic island is reached.
The press briefing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
