Alaska Hit By 7.0 Earthquake
by NewsNews
According to Reuters, no injuries have been reported as a result, but the quake did prompt a tsunami warning for Cook Inlet, which links Anchorage with the Gulf of Alaska. Initially reported as a quake with a 6.7 magnitude, it also stirred up traffic and T.V. transmissions in the area. The U.S. Geological Survey says that it hit just south of Point MacKenzie, Alaska, with an epicenter just seven miles away from Anchorage. Anchorage-based climatologist Brian Brettschneider tweeted, “Thought the house was going to come apart,” alongside a picture of his kitchen floor filled with items that had fallen from its cupboards.
