Georgetown brawls with Chinese basketball team

The Hoyas faced the Bayi Rockets as part of a "goodwill tour" of China. Tensions ran high from the start, and officials clearly favored the Rockets. Several Bayi players were continually screaming, even at Georgetown's coach. Late in the game, Georgetown's Jason Clark took exception to a hard foul by Bayi's Hu Ke, and the bench-clearing brawl ensued. Chinese basketball teams are notorious for playing dirty. Was Baiyi, a professional army team, upset it couldn't intimidate college students? Or were they sending a message, as Georgetown's tour coincides with Vice President Joe Biden's visit and the arrival of new ambassador Gary Locke? Georgetown and Bayi meet again on Sunday night in Shanghai.
