#Japan - Mount Aso volcano erupts

Mount Aso, a volcano located on the island of Kyushu, the third largest in Japan, has entered erupting Monday, as announced by the Japan Meteorological Agency and blowing large plumes of smoke and ashes. Japan is in the "Ring of Fire," a horseshoe-shaped area of faults and volcanoes where more than 100 active volcanoes. Last year, Mount Ontake in the center of the country, erupted unexpectedly claiming the lives of 63 people, the worst volcanic disaster in nearly 90 years. In May, a remote island south of Kyushu had to be evacuated because of another volcanic eruption.
