3 gored in Pamplonas Running of the Bulls

Three men injured by deep horns yesterday was the balance in the traditional Feria de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain, which brings together hundreds of thousands of people from the five continents to enjoy a tradition that dates back to 1591. An American tourist 20 years of age was gored in the stomach by a bull during the morning along with two Spanish in the bloodiest day of the famous Spanish celebration. But the most terrible moments occurred when a lone bull that had broken away from the pack attacked a second Spanish rider as he lay helpless on the ground after being killed by the animal. Six people in total were taken to hospital after the sixth race of eight performed. The horns were also the first of this year, in which only 15 riders were taken to hospital during the first five days. Between 200 and 300 people usually are injured each year. The most recent death was in 2009, when Daniel Jimeno, 27 years old from Madrid, was gored in the neck by a bull named Capuchino.
